From a lamelist fan about McCain suspending his campaign so he can go to Washington to work on the financial crisis: 

I think McCain’s a hoot. I don’t know anyone who is upset about it, everyone I know is getting a big laugh out of it. After not going to the Senate since April and missing 108 consecrative votes and saying just this week that the economy is fundamentally sound, all of a sudden he discovered that the country is in peril and he is Captain America rushing off to save the day. At work, people now “suspend the meeting” to go to lunch “for the good of the company.”

McCain is such a drama queen, he is not suspending his campaign, he is still running ads, still appearing on TV, still raising money. I bet he will show up Friday at the debate after some dramatic whoop-dee-doo. The key on this is you have to realize that McCain is not running a presidential campaign, he is running a weekly reality-tv show. He needs some big build up of drama to get to the next week.

It’s fine, it’s fun and like a tv show, you watch it just to see what crazy thing he will do next. It is a good laugh and we really need something to laugh at right now.
