Lame: The Endless Race Thing From the Media

I’m excited that Obama won and that the long campaign is over. Dear media,

I really don’t want to hear how Obama is the first “African-American President” or listen to any talk of the significance of his race. Let’s just welcome him as our new president. Quit parading around the race card and get on with things.

My son is 4 years old and as far as he is concerned, race, color, creed is irrelevant and meaningless. Let’s keep it that way.

Here is an interesting thought from George Will (http://townhall.com/columnists/GeorgeWill/2008/11/09/dawning_of_the_age_of_obama):

“The election of an African-American discomfits the Democratic Party. It practices identity politics, stressing the relevance of “race-conscious” policies, defending racial preferences in public hiring, contracting and education. But the election of Barack Obama is an American majority’s self-emancipation: We are free at last from the inexpressible tedium of the preoccupation with skin pigmentation.”
